Movies
As we mentioned in Episode #4 of our podcast one of our favorite comics, The Goon by Eric Powell, is slated to become an animated movie. Ain’t It Cool News got their hands on some still shots and we shamelessly ganked them to re-post here. (click on the images to embiggen)
Variety is reporting that Watchmen co-screen writer David Hayter and producer Benedict Carver have teamed up to form Dark Hero Studios, a company that will generate film, TV, Internet and video game projects in the action, sci-fi and horror genres.
Sam Raimi “can’t imagine making a ‘Spider-Man’ movie without Kirsten [Dunst],” but it seems like he is going to anyway. Raimi and Tobey Maguire are set to do Spider Man 4 but Dunst is questionable at best.
Books
We mentioned in Episode #1 of our podcast that Bruce Sterling was going to have a new book, The Caryatids, and now Bookgasm has an excellent review of it up. This book is jumping the line on Matt’s reading list and is now at the top.
Boardgames
Twilight Creations, Inc. has published Reiner Knizia‘s zombie apocalypse boardgame Zombiegeddon.
Zombiegeddon is a fast-paced, perfect-information, strategy game. Each player spends the first half of the game rushing around the board collecting supplies and trying to stop your pesky neighbors from taking stuff that is rightfully yours. (At least as far as you are concerned!). The second half of the game is spent trying to survive. Sure their is some good stuff around, but it certainly isn’t plentiful and let’s face it, everyone is still trying to take it before you do! (Whoever has the most stuff at the end of the game wins!)
Zombiegeddon should be in stores now and sounds like a lot of fun.
TV
According to their press release, soon The SciFi Channel will no longer be The SciFi Channel.

SyFy? Really? I guess they will now be the home of Synce Fyction? This is what they chose? Really?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Good interview with SciFi, er, SyFy’s President over on their website. I admit the name change sounds kind of silly to me, but it is relatively savy business. No one’s going to not watch BSG etc… because of the name change and I suppose there’s the chance it might draw more people in. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt even if it does seem daft to cynics like us
