This week’s podcast is going to be about tabletop card games, think Munchkin, Bohnanza, Magic, etc. We’ll be reviewing several games all of which are available for $25 or less. We’re also interested in your favorite card games, geek or not. E-mail suggestions to seattlegeekly@gmail.com, leave a post in our forums or just comment on this post.
Anime, book, comic and movie news under the fold
Anime
♦One more option for those wanting to catch the new Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime. Hulu is streaming the first two episodes and will be streaming future episodes 2 weeks after they air in Japan and one week after they stream on Funimation.
♦The Sci-Fi channel, or should I say the *shudder* SyFy Channel, is going to be airing the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 starting in June. If they hold with past practice the episodes will be dubbed.
Books
♦A previously unpublished J.R.R. Tolkien book is hitting stores tomorrow; The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun. Tolkien’s extensive retelling in English narrative verse of the epic Norse tales of Sigurd the Völsung and The Fall of the Niflungs. It includes an introduction by J.R.R. Tolkien, drawn from one of his own lectures on Norse literature, with commentary and notes on the poems by Christopher Tolkien.
♦Also out tomorrow is Enemies and Allies, you can hear author Kevin J. Anderson talk about this book and much more on Episode #11 of Seattle Geekly!
Comics
♦The Financial Post has an article about the investment potential of comic books. The lead paragraph states boldly that “the comic book collector market is still thriving and profitable, and has done especially well since stock markets plunged last fall.” Buried on page 2 of the article is the caveat. “Few comics published after 1984 have any real investment value.” I guess all my copies of Youngblood #1 are still worthless.
Movies
♦X-Men Origens:Wolverine made a quite respectable $87 million over the weekend. It’s staying power is questionable though with Star Trek coming out this Thursday. We saw Wolverine this weekend and we’ll be talking about it on this week’s podcast. For our initial reactions and to add your own feedback head to our forums.
♦We mentioned the live action Blood: The Last Vampire movie back in March and now it looks like Sony has acquired the U.S. Distribution rights and will release it sometime in June.

Oh there’s so many…
Gloom: http://www.atlas-games.com/product_tables/AG1250.php
Try and kill off your family and end up with the lowest self worth points as possible. The clear cards and excellent storytelling make this game a lot of fun.
I own Gloom and it’s two expansions. So much fun!
Once Upon A Time: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1234
A fun storytelling game. Try and interrupt the other players and take over the story to try and end it! A lot of fun when you have a ton of people. Especially if they’re the creative types.
