Monday News Roundup

The “hooray for no fever and nausea” edition. I’m feeling so much better than I did this time last week its amazing.

This week’s podcast is going to be all about video games! To get people thinking, I asked on Twitter this morning what video game system and game people would bring with them if they were going to be stranded on a desert island. With the assumption that any desert island worth being stranded on would have a high-speed internet connection we had several people saying they would want a PC/Mac and World of Warcraft (a choice I heartily endorse), @bethmv suggested a Wii and Guitar Hero World Tour so you could have a game and music both, there were votes for Civilization 4, Call of Duty, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Fable 2, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and a ton of others. I was actually kind of surprised by the variety.

For myself I would go with World of Warcraft (if there was an internet connection) or Tetris Attack (if Shannon and I were stranded together).

The very brief Monday news roundup is under the fold

Anime

The Anime Expo 2009 wrapped up in Los Angeles this weekend with a reported 44,000 attendees. Anime News Network has a cosplay reel from the con.

TV

Rumors continue to fly about a live action Star Wars television series, the latest of which comes from Sci Fi Now who are reporting that Australian TV producer and writer, John Edwards has been selected as one of the series writers.

IMDB is reporting that Kyle MacLachlan is wanting to bring Twin Peaks back a series of new five minute web-episodes. I would love to see more Twin Peaks material, but MacLachlan also says that David Lynch would almost certainly not be involved which makes me somewhat less enthusiastic about this particular idea.

All the surviving members of Monty Python, minus John Cleese, will be appearing in the European premiere of Eric Idle’s musical Not The Messiah (He’s A Very Naughty Boy) according to the BBC. John Cleese may not be joining his fellow Pythons on stage but he will be appearing in the new six-episode documentary, Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut) which will air on US TV in October before being released on DVD.
