Musicians have always had influences, but we are just now seeing the first generation of musicians that grew up with video games being a strong and common presence in their lives. It should be no surprise then that there has been an explosion of music based on and influenced by the music from video games. This week, in honor of famed video game score composer Nobuo Uematsu’s upcoming appearance with the Seattle Symphony, we have a small sample of some console-inspired bands both local and from around the nation.

Plus the weekly geek news and Seattle area events.
