stressed-out1

Unfortunately we’re a little swamped at the Geekly factory today. Work is busier than I like it to be and it’s starting to look like the Monday news will be a little rushed this week.

This Thursday’s podcast is going to be all about geek gifts. Everyone has at least one geek on their list that is difficult to buy for and we’ll be talking to some local and on-line companies for great gift suggestions.

A small series of reminders before the news – First, you have not one but TWO opportunities to hang out with us and other Seattle Geekly listeners this weekend. Trivia Night is Friday, November 20 from 8 – 10 pm at Neptune Coffee and the topic will be the Whedonverse and Game Night is Sunday November 22 from 1 – 5pm (or later) and is again being held at Green Lake Games. Follow the links for more details.

Also, we will be taking the next two weeks off, so no podcast on November 26 or December 3 but we will be posting little news and blog tidbits as well as twittering during that time and we’ll be back on December 10!

Your Monday news is under the fold

Books

Dr Who logo

  • io9 is reporting on the announcement that Michael Moorcock (yes THAT Michael Moorcock) will be writing a new Dr. Who novel. Moorcock has said that the novel will be part of the Dr. Who cannon but will not be based on or part of any existing storyline. From Michael Moorcock’s blog;

    I’ve been asked to write Dr Who scripts or stories almost since the series began, because I was known to enjoy Dr Who. Only recently did the time feel right to me to do one. I’m going to enjoy that, too.
